Today I did some research on the three R's, reduce, reuse and recycle. This was to discover what goes into the process of these activities. I used the website http://kids.niehs.nih.gov
<Waste is anything we throw away or get ride of.
<It is anything that doesn't get used.
REDUCE
<Reduce, or reduction is the act of making something smaller or less.
<In this case it is diminishing the amount of waste that is being used.
< "Source Reduction" is reducing waste before your purchase it, or buying products that are not wasteful in their packaging.
< A key part of waste reduction is is conservation, which is using natural resources wisely, and using less than usual in order to avoid waste.
< In order to make this work people can choose to buy less things that will have to go into landfills or waste stream un general.
< Another quick way to reduce waste is to make good choices in the products that we buy and the packaging that has gone into creating that product.
< This would be like buying packaging that can be recycled and are able to decompose very quickly.
< Things to avoid would be, buying single serve containers and try not to buy bottled water as there is no need when there are drinking taps around and water doesn't need to be served in a plastic water bottle.
< When in shops, refuse to use store plastic bags.
< Also buy in bulk.
< Refuse junk mail.
REUSE
< People can reuse materials in their original form instead of throwing them away.
< Or pass materials that you can no longer use onto other people.
< Use washable cups or mugs other than disposable things that can't be used again.
< Reuse other plastic materials like spoons, and cups.
< Hold a yard sale.
< Before you purchase a new item that you need check inside yard sales because they might have what you are looking for and you won't be buying a whole new product.
RECYCLE
< Instead of just throwing things inside the rubbish bin you can recycle things.
< These certain things that can be recycled can be turned into other things, either the same thing, or another product.
< Making new things from recycled ones uses less energy and fewer resources than making products from brand new materials.
< Just about anything in your home that cannot be reused can be recycled into something else.
< List of somethings that can be recycled.
< Aluminium Cans.
<Cardboard.
< Electronic equipment.
< Glass.
< Magasines.
< Metal.
< Newspaper.
< Paper.
< Plastic Bags.
< Plastic Bottles.
< Writing.
< Yard Waste.
< These are just some of the many products that can be recycled.

    About

After hearing about the impact that over packaged products are having on the environment. I decided to research more into the matter and create a blog on my findings.
